PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material which has adequate weather resistance under an environment having much airborne salt, and is suitable for a structure like a bridge in a beach area or an area where snow-melting salts are scattered. SOLUTION: The steel material superior in beach weather resistance comprises, by mass%, 0.001-0.15% C, 2.5% or less Si, 5.0% or less Mn, 0.03% or less P, 0.005% or less S, 0.05-1.0% Cu, 0.1-9.0% or less Ni, 0.003-2.5% Al, 0.001-0.1% N, further 0.03-0.50% Sn and/or Sb, and the balance Fe with impurities. The steel material preferably contains one or more optional elements from among Ti, Nb, Mo, W, V, Ca and Mg, and/or REM; or the surface is covered with a corrosion resistant coating.
