A mounting apparatus for mounting a hollow work-piece (22) on a machine includes a circumferential groove (32) formed into an outer surface of a cylindrical supporting fixture (26) of the machine, a dampening plug assembly (40) for positioning inside the hollow workpiece (22) adjacent the cylindrical supporting fixture (26), and an end pressure reducing device (50) for mounting within the circumferential groove (32) for centrifugally supporting and enabling the reduction of machining-induced pressure on the end of the hollow workpiece (22).
