PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance setting type photoelectric sensor provided with an optical part movable mechanism for adjusting the position and attitude of an optical system and facilitating users' distance setting. SOLUTION: The distance setting type photoelectric sensor is provided with a light projection part 21 for projecting light toward an object; a light reception part including a light reception element 22 for receiving reflected light from the object; a main control part 33 for determining the position of a light reception spot in a light reception plane or the position of center of gravity of a distribution of the quantity of received light by processing signals from the light reception element 22; a light reception part adjustment mechanism 27 for adjusting the angle of the light reception part; and an attitude information acquisition part 28 for acquiring information indicating the angle of the light reception part and providing it for the main control part. The main control part 33 determines a present distance by converting the information provided from the attitude information acquisition part 28 and displays it on a display part 34.
