PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a fluctuation in a valve lift quantity between cylinders, by excluding influence by a thermal expansion difference between a housing and a control shaft. SOLUTION: The control shaft 64 is supported in the housing 11 of a variable valve system 10, and four variable devices 58 are arranged on its shaft. An output member 69 of the variable devices 58 is positioned by the housing 11, and a slider 70 is connected to the shaft 64 by a pin 66. The shaft 64 is rotated by an actuator 15, and the slider 70 is driven in the axial direction, and a phase of the output member 69 to an input member 68 is changed, and a lift quantity of an intake valve is changed. The pin 66 is held by a holder 22, and the holder 22 is threadedly engaged with a male screw 21 on the shaft 64.
