PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor in which a stator can sufficiently be fixed by securing the contact area of a housing and the stator, and that can obtain an enlarged coolant passage area and improved efficiency. SOLUTION: Chord length connecting the starting point and the terminal point of an arc portion that is not in contact with the stator on the inside circumferential surface of a housing, is configured to be shorter than the chord length connecting the starting point and the terminal point which intersects an imaginary circle drawn concentrically with the inside circumferential surface of the housing of the cutout portion, in a cutout portion that forms a coolant passage where at least one stator core is not in contact with the housing.
