PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a runner fixing structure for eliminating springs and lightening in weight, thinning and shortening an umbrella. SOLUTION: The runner fixing structure has an attracting ring of a magnetic body fixed to the upper portion of a middle rod and an attracting portion of a magnetic body arranged in the upper surface of the runner; the runner is slid downward; the attracting portion is brought into contact with the attracting ring; both are attracted with magnetic force to fix the umbrella opening condition; the runner is slid further upward from the condition in which the umbrella cloth is fully opened to establish a critical condition in which receiving bones are extended in a perpendicular and radial direction to the middle rod, and the attracting ring is fixed in the position abutting on the upper surface of the attracting portion in a condition in which the runner in the critical condition is slid further upward and the receiving bones are extended in a radially downward direction from the middle rod and when the umbrella cloth is fully opened under tension.
