PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for coding audio signal by switching transform scheme among frequency domain transform and time domain transform are provided to compress audio signal without the conversion noise. CONSTITUTION: A first conversion part(730) creates a first conversion signal by performing one of frequency domain conversion and time domain conversion to a first audio signal of a first time interval. A second transform unit(740) creates a second converted signal by performing the conversion corresponding to the conversion of the first conversion part to a second audio signal. A third transform unit(750) creates a third converted signal by performing one of frequency domain conversion and time domain conversion to the first and second audio signals.
