[Problem] To provide an activated sodium chlorite composition in which low concentration sodium chlorite can be activated at conditions close to neutral, with the activated state being maintained for a long period of time, and in which an active species that is effective for oxidation can be used in a simple manner. [Solution] In the present invention, activated sodium chlorite containing active species at a desired concentration is obtained by activating sodium chlorite with an external stimulus, the activated sodium chlorite is brought into contact with cyclodextrin, and an activated sodium chlorite composition, which is contained in water in a contact state whereby the activation is maintained, is obtained.
