PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion member capable of improving use efficiency of light to give a high image quality to an image, and an image forming apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: When attention is paid to one emission point EP, fluorescence emitted from a phosphor layer 104d enters a light deflecting part 104e from the emission point EP and travels toward a conical surface 104g while radially spreading. Light impinging on the conical surface 104g is separated into refracted and emitted light EJL and return light PRL returned to the phosphor layer 104d due to total reflection on a boundary surface of the conical surface 104g, by difference in refractive index on the boundary surface. The return light PRL impinges on the phosphor layer 104d again and changes the angle to emit from the phosphor layer 104d to the light deflecting part 104e again through scattering in the phosphor layer 104d and reflection on a transreflective layer adjacent to a lower surface (a surface opposite to the light deflecting part 104e across the phosphor layer 104d) of the phosphor layer 104d.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
