PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens device that can further reduce an influence depending on the state of use, and a projection type display device using the same.SOLUTION: A lens device β comprises a zooming moving unit 8 and a cam barrel 6 that has a cam groove engaging with a cam follower 7, and further a motor 4 that rotates the cam barrel and a lens substrate 3 that controls the motor 4. The lens substrate 3 controls at least the amount of a current to be supplied to a motor 4 and time to supply a current to the motor 4 according to the angle of the cam groove at the position of the cam follower 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
