PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wrong tab sheets from being mixed in output objects, while suppressing an increase in the number of sheets to be wasted, cost, and the size of an apparatus.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus that has a paper feed tray that stores a plurality of sets of tab sheets, with a bundle of tab sheets in which a plurality of tab sheets having different tab positions are stacked in predetermined order as one set, and inserts a tab sheet into between arbitrary sheets designated in advance of sheets having images formed thereon; when paper jam occurs in the course of a print job, the image forming apparatus performs jam processing to remove jammed sheets, and when a tab sheet TB4 that is a first tab sheet after the jam processing is supplied, suspends supply of subsequent sheets. The image forming apparatus then reads the first tab sheet TB4 with a line sensor after the jam processing, determines a tab position from a result of the reading, and if the tab position of the tab sheet TB4 is not correct as a tab sheet to be inserted, ejects the tab sheet TB4 to a paper ejection tray different from a case of normal output objects.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
