PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection roller in which impact resilience is low and vibration is hardly generated when shifting according to the sheet thickness, and to provide a device for detecting sheet thickness equipped with the same.SOLUTION: In the device for detecting the thickness of a conveyed sheet, the detection roller is arranged in a state of being abutted on a reference roller held movably, and is held so as to move and shift according to the thickness of the sheet conveyed between the reference roller and the same. The detection roller includes an inner ring formed of a rubber composition and an outer ring which covers an outer periphery of the inner ring and is formed of a material having a stiffness larger than that of the inner ring, and the rubber composition includes: a rubber component containing a dimethyl silicon rubber and a phenyl group-containing silicon rubber; and a phenyl group-containing silicon oil.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
