A method is performed in a network device for accepting or rejecting a request associated with a mobile device wirelessly connecting to a network. The method includes: receiving a request from a mobile device, wherein the request is associated with the mobile device wirelessly connecting to a network; and determining an expected connection duration for the mobile device, which is calculated using collected historical connection data that identifies a plurality of previous wireless connections to the network and identifies a corresponding duration of each previous wireless connection. The method further includes determining whether to accept or reject the request based on the expected connection duration for the mobile device.

1. A method for accepting or rejecting a request received from a client device, the method comprising:
receiving the request from the client device upon an attempt of the client device to connect to a wireless communication network; determining, by one or more processors of the wireless communication network, whether an expected connection duration for connection by the client device exceeds a threshold time duration; in response to determining that the expected connection duration exceeds the threshold time duration, the one or more processors accepting the request from the client device to connect to the wireless communication network; and in response to determining that the expected connection duration does not exceed the threshold time duration, the one or more processors rejecting the request from the client device to connect to the wireless communication network.
