PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery cell in which the gas diffusion performance of a gas diffusion layer in the neighborhood of a rib of a separator can be kept high under discharge, thereby suppressing degradation of the performance.SOLUTION: In a fuel battery cell, at least spherical carbon, polytetrafluoroethylene and dispersant are mixed to prepare fluid dispersion having a viscosity of 2,000 to 3,000 cp. The fluid dispersion is coated on one surface of carbon paper, and after the fluid dispersion is coated, the carbon paper is burned at 330°C to form a water repellant layer on one surface, thereby forming a gas diffusion layer having the water repellant layer at least at the cathode electrode side. The water repellant layer of the gas diffusion layer having the water repellant layer and a cathode electrode are in contact with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
