This electricity storage device is provided with a cell, a discharge device, and a control unit which controls charging and discharging of the cell. The discharge device includes a swelling member, a movable switch and a discharge switch. Expansion of the swelling member causes the movable switch to move. The discharge switch is turned on by the movement of the movable switch. A signal indicating that the discharge switch has turned on is transmitted to the control unit, and discharge of the cell begins.
