A surface treatment agent which contains at least one perfluoro(poly)ether group-containing silane compound represented by one of formulae (A1), (A2), (B1), (B2), (C1) and (C2), and which is characterized in that the ratio of perfluoro(poly)ether group-containing silane compounds having a molecular weight of 3,000 or less among the perfluoro(poly)ether group-containing silane compounds represented by general formulae is 9 mol% or less.
