Disclosed are a video generation method, apparatus and terminal. In the embodiments of the present invention, effect processing is performed on image frames obtained in a video recording process or after video recording is ended, according to a selected video effect template, and processed image frames are synthesised to obtain a synthetic video, thereby resolving the problems in the prior art that during recording of a song file, shot contents of a camera can only be briefly presented and a customisation function meeting requirements of a user is not achieved, and achieving the effect of performing effect processing on all or some image frames in video recording according to the video effect template selected by the user to finally obtain the synthetic video meeting the requirements of the user.
