The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system and method for managing vehicle parking bookings. The system and method comprises (a) a database storing: a plurality of membership codes of members of the vehicle parking booking system; an active record of parking spaces at least one secured parking facility; an active record of bookings for the parking spaces, wherein each booking is associated with a membership code; (b) a human interface arranged to provide access to the database, configured to enable a member to search available parking spaces and to make a booking that is stored in the database associated with the member's membership code; (c) a smart controller located at the secured parking facility, comprising: a local memory storing bookings for parking spaces at the secured parking facility, the bookings being associated with a corresponding membership code; a communication interface for wireless data communication with the database to synchronise the bookings in the local memory with the bookings in the database; and a user interface arranged to receive an input membership code, wherein the smart controller is configured to search the local memory for a valid booking matching the input membership code and to enable vehicle access to the secured parking facility if a valid booking is identified. |
