The mechanism, for laying concrete blocks is esp. applicable to the setting of interlocking tongued and grooved blocks, and esp. as used in work on covering river banks aiming to achieve secure interlocking connection in the vertical direction. There is a laying plate (2), with a series of working cylinders (3) arranged in a row. A piston (4) belonging to each of these is allotted to a concrete block (1), ready for laying, deposited on the plate, and when activation takes place this can be pressed into the combination of blocks already laid. In the area where the blocks are deposited, the laying-plate may be fitted with block-guide rails (5). There may be a feed mechanism, linked to the cylinders for rhythmic operation. Rapid and continuous block laying is practicable.
