PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caisson which does not float even with buoyancy of underground water when constructing a vertical shaft or a foundation using a skeleton with a weight thereof trimmed within a limit of satisfying a strength condition as a structural body and to provide a construction method for the caisson.SOLUTION: A construction method for a caisson comprises: an installation process to install a skeleton in the ground at a predetermined depth; and a process to construct, after the installation process, floatation prevention members which extend from a side wall of the skeleton towards the ground and are fixed to the side wall. The floatation prevention members prevent the caisson from being floated in a manner that maintains the caisson at the predetermined depth against large buoyancy of underground water acting on the caisson after the same is installed. |
