Billets 3 are transferred from a rack 1 to a roller bed 4 of a descaling machine by lifters 14. Each lifter comprises an eccentric 16 secured to a common driven shaft 17 and engaged by rollers 15 carried by the body of the lifter. A rod 14b extends from the body and is slidable in a bush 20 pivotably mounted on a frame 9. A stop 2 for the billets is adjustable longitudinally of the rack 1 and there is vertical adjustment of mountings 5a, 8 for rollers 5 of the bed 4. A motor 7 drives the rollers 5 via chains 6 or ropes. In operation, the billets are carried over the stop 2 by the lifters. Lifters may be provided at the discharge end of the processing machine, for transferring billets on to a rack. |
