<p>A burst steam generator sagety device consists of a casing surrounding the steam generator and comprising series of cylindrical wall sections or strakes placed one above another, a top closure and a bottom closure. The entire assembly is longitudinally (vertically) connected together by elements which accept axial tension. The bottom closure is constituted of a conical shell, its narrow end upwards and towards the heat exchanger, while its outer, lower wide end terminates as a support ring connected to the vertical ties or cables. The weight of the pressure vessel rests upon the narrow end and is transmitted through the conical portion to the ring. The device is esp. used for the steam generating units of a pressurised water reactor power plant. The arrangement enables a considerably lighter bottom closure for the burst protection device to be constructed than a conventional solid bottom closure.</p> |
