Novel lH-indol-3-yl containing 1,3-dimethy!-lH-purine-2,6-diones of formula (I) wherein Alk represents a bivalent lower alkyl radical; R is hydrogen, lower alkyl, halo, lower alkyloxy, or hydroxy, the dotted line indicating that the double bond between the 3- and 4-carbon atoms of the piperidine nucleus is optional, said compounds possessing psychotropic activity. A process for preparing said compounds of formula (I) is also described.
