PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for generating the optical recording pulses of multi-pulse patterns suited to a high-density and high-speed optical medium capable of not only reducing jitters and preventing cross erasure between adjacent tracks by a domain configuration in any high-density and highspeed recording environments but also preventing crosstalk between the adjacent tracks by the domain configuration during reproduction as well. SOLUTION: This apparatus for generating the optical recording pulses having the multi-pulse patterns including multi-pulses is provided with a recording pulse generation part for generating the optical recording pulses and a control part for controlling the recording pulse generation part so that according to the type of the optical medium or the set recording speed, there are at least two different widths of the multi-pulses used to create one mark.
