Door locking mechanism for electric appliances, laundry dryers in partic, incorporates a block fastened on the door, a spring-tensioned rotary component, and a pawl with which the rotary component can be locked in a first rotation position. The rotary component rotates on a swivelling part which swivels through a force touching the block against a spring force. The pawl moves in relation to the rotary component during at least part of the swivel movement and frees the component for a turn into a second rotation position. ADVANTAGE - The invention is extremely reliable, permits a number of different functions and is cheap to mfr.
