PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-acetyllysine monoclonal antibody capable of recognizing Nε-acetyllysine residue regardless of the kind of neighboring amino acids, and further to provide a method for producing the monoclonal antibody. SOLUTION: This monoclonal antibody is composed of a light chain in which the invariable region comprises a specific amino acid sequence of a mouse monoclonal antibody, and the variable region comprises a specific amino acid sequence derived from the mouse or an amino acid sequence composed of the amino acid sequence having one or several deleted, substituted or inserted amino acids, and a heavy chain in which the invariable region comprises a specific amino acid sequence derived from the mouse, and the variable region comprises a specific amino acid sequence derived from the mouse or an amino acid sequence composed of the amino acid sequence having one or several deleted, substituted or inserted amino acids, and can accept a wide range of vicinal amino acids especially not depending on the kind of the vicinal amino acid when recognizing the Nε-acetyllysine in a protein. The method for producing the monoclonal antibody uses a chemically acetylated protein as an antigen.
