摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To provide a traffic monitor system with high accuracy in which the capacity of a storage device is smaller. CONSTITUTION:A period T (10 cell time) for plural monitor periods T1, T2... is set based on an average transmission route of ATM cells S1, S2... sent by an application from the user and an average cell number in each period is set as a threshold level X (3). Each of the monitor periods T1, T2... is divided into three and small monitor periods t1, t2,... are set in each monitor period. A count is obtained from the sum of cells in the three monitor periods by counting cells in each small monitor period, and when the count exceeds the threshold level 3, the detected cell is discriminated to be a violation cell. The count is started for the monitor periods T2, T3,... with a delay of one small monitor period from the just preceding monitor periods T1, T2,... Since each of the monitor periods T1, T2,... has an overlapped period, a mount mistake of cells detected in each period is small and the capacity of the storage device is realized by a capacity required for detecting the number of cells in each small monitor period or for a division number.</p>
