PURPOSE:To provide a valve drive controller for an engine having a simple structure aiming at improvement of operability of a valve. CONSTITUTION:In a valve operation controller wherein a cam lobe 31 so provided as to be freely engaged with/disengaged from a cam shaft 9 of a valve system of an engine is integrally rotated together with the cam shaft 9 in engaging, so as to operate a valve 3, and the rotation of the cam lobe 31 capable of being freely rotated in disengaging is stopped by a cam rotation stopping means 34, so as not to operate the valve 3, the cam lobe 31 is made to be freely slid in the axial direction in relation to the cam shaft 9. The cam lobe 31 switches engagement/disengagement with/from the cam shaft 9 according to slide of the cam lobe 31.
