PURPOSE:To produce a minute zeolite membrane oriented to a specific crystal orientation. CONSTITUTION:This zeolite membrane is preferentially oriented to a specific crystal orientation on the surface of a single crystal substrate of oxides, semiconductors or metals, and is prepared by a method for applying a raw material sol containing zeolite constituent elements onto the surface of the single crystal substrate heat-treating the resultant gel in an atmosphere containing water vapor and thereby crystallizing the gel.
