Long chain wax production from recycled polyolefin

A process for the production of paraffin and/or high-melting waxes with chain lengths of more than 50C (I) from recycled polyolefin plastics, by removing metallic, inorganic and mineral impurities, melting and pre-cracking at 350-390 deg C with partial recycling, and cracking in the absence of oxygen at 390-430 deg C to give mol. wts. of 2,000-8,000, with separation of the cracked fractions by distillation under normal or reduced pressure and recycling of non-volatile bottom product (II). The novelty is that 50-100 wt% of product (II) is worked up separately.
