FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oil deposit development methods involving drilling satellite wells. According to invention, oil deposit operation continues for 20 to 25 years and statistical treatment of data concerning actual operation time over the past 20-25 years is performed. From the treatment results, average oil deposit well operation time is predicted. Satellite wells are drilled as predicted average well operation term approaches taking into account residual oil reserves. To determine succession of drilling satellite wells, in-service wells are ranged with regard to degree of their approach to predicted operation term. Flaw detection examinations of wells are performed starting with commercial wells whose operation time exceeds predicted average operation time. Conditions of current and predicted efficiency of wells are stated on the basis of current geotechnical examinations of bottom zone of formation in the well region. Satellite wells are drilled to replace old but still commercial wells starting with those most predisposed to irreversible failure of operational state.
