PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light permeability of a red filter in a FED (field emission light emitting element). SOLUTION: This FED has three color filters of R(red), G(green), and B(blue). A pigment for the green filter is (Ti-Ni-Co-Zn)O, a pigment for the blue filter is (Co-Al)O, and a pigment for the red filter is (Fe-Zn-Cr)O being a brown inorganic pigment. ZnO:Zn can be used for green and blue phosphors. Y2O3: Eu, SrTiO3:Pr, ZnO:Zn or the like can be used for a phosphor having a red component. Light transmittance before and after mounting of (Fe-Zn-Cr)O to the FED is indicated. Light transmittance after mounting between 580 nm to 620 nm being a wavelength band of red is reduced at most only by 10% of that before mounting. This indicates that practically none of the (Fe-Zn-Cr)O are deoxidized even by a reducing atmosphere inside the FED.
