PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep data obtained from all detection elements within X-ray application time only within one frame and to process image data only by the minimum frame memory by equipping a control means with a sequence for applying X rays only for specific amount of X-ray application time. SOLUTION: The X-ray image pickup device is equipped with a trigger signal generation means 3, and a control means 4 for controlling the ON/OFF of the application of X rays in synchronization with the read timing of an accumulated electric charge when the input of a trigger signal is received. The control means 4 is allowed to have a function for automatically setting the electric charge accumulation time of each X-ray detection element to a value obtained by adding specific X-ray application time and time required for reading electric charge per frame based on preset X-ray application time, starts applying X rays immediately after completing the reading of the electric charge of the last pixel of one frame during reading when a trigger signal is inputted, and sets a sequence for turning on the application of X rays only for specific amount of X-ray application time, thus reading the X-ray image data of all pixels at a frame or thereafter during reading.
