PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit that outputs a detection pulse in an optimum heating power. SOLUTION: First trial write is applied to 1st and 2nd trial write areas of an optical disk (step S1). A multi-pulse train is recorded onto the 1st trial write area and a detection pulse is applied to the 2nd trial write area for a plurality of number of times while heating power is respectively and stepwise changed. Then a sampling circuit samples and holds a reflection signal RF at the recording (step S2). Furthermore, 1st and 2nd power arithmetic circuits calculate optimum heating powers Pw1o, Pw2o of the multi-pulse train and the detection pulse by using the sampled and held values (step S3), and trial write is applied to a 3rd trial write area by the obtained heating power Pw2o (step S4). Then a recording state information value RFopc in this recording is set as an object value RFopco (step S5). |
