INFORMATION PROCESSOR WITH INFRARED COMMUNICATION FUNCTION AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior information processor and its control method which can smoothly transfer data such as a processing result obtained by executing an application or an HTML file obtained from a Web server according to the TCP/IP protocol to external equipment (PDA) by using an infrared communication function. SOLUTION: The information processor periodically accesses a specific server machine (e.g. Web server) on a network such as the Internet to obtain a desired file (e.g. HTML file). This file obtaining operation is carried out irrelevantly to the operation of an infrared transmission/reception part. In other words, the information processor tries to always cache the latest downloaded data for a PDA. Consequently, the PDA as external equipment is set in an infrared communication mode and raised over an area where the information processor can find a station and then a connection between both is established, so that the latest data can received.
