A cylinder sleeve (1) for a combustion engine of the diesel type has an essentially cylindrical interior, which constitutes a bearing surface (15) for piston rings on a piston, and an upper attachment section (3) which has an essentially greater wall thickness than a lower section (4). The attachment section (3) has an underside (7) with a circular downwards-facing contact face (8) and an upper side (5) with a circular upwards-facing contact face (6), as well as interior cooling ducts. The newly produced cylinder sleeve's interior bearing surface (15) has, in an area (19, 22) that extends over at least 4 percent of the cylinder sleeve's length and is situated on the attachment section (3), a greater diameter than an underlaying section (20) of the bearing surface (15). The bearing surface (15) in the area (19, 22) with greater diameter is essentially bearing surface for the piston rings. The interior cooling ducts can be formed in an upper part of the attachment section (3) and can open into a collection chamber (12) in the attachment section (3), and the bearing surface's (15) area (19, 22) with greater diameter can be situated opposite the collection chamber (12).<IMAGE>
