A method for minimizing cell damage by protein glycosylation and lipid peroxidation in human red blood cells exposed to high glucose levels is provided to store cells in frozen state for a long period of time without damage of proteins and lipids in cells. The method for minimizing cell damage by protein glycosylation and lipid peroxidation in human red blood cells exposed to high glucose levels comprises the steps of: collecting human red blood cells from whole blood by centrifugation; adding the collected human red blood cells into the solution containing 0.06M of sugar, 0.1M of diferuloylmethane, 0.0001M of melatonin, 0.01M of L-ascorbic acid and 0.00001M of insulin; and culturing the cells at 37 deg.C for 24 hours, wherein the diferuloylmethane, melatonin and L-ascorbic acid are antioxidant capable of reducing cell damage caused by protein glycosylation and lipid peroxidation; and the insulin promotes activity of antioxidants. |
