A multimedia mail-box service system and a method for confirming a short message by using the same are provided to enable a user to confirm received short messages without using his/her mobile terminal by accessing a multimedia mail-box server through wire/wireless telephone networks or the Internet. A multimedia mail-box service system comprises an SMS(Short Message Service) server(200), a database(400), and a multimedia mail-box server(300). The SMS server(200) transmits a short message, of which destination number is a multimedia mail-box access number, to the multimedia mail-box server(300) which provides a multimedia mail-box service. The database(400) stores information about service users affiliated to the multimedia mailing service. The multimedia mail-box server(300) stores the short messages transmitted from the SMS server(200) in the database(400). In case a service user makes a short message confirmation request, the multimedia mail-box server(300) extracts a short message corresponding to a service user among the stored short messages in response to the service user's request and transmits the extracted short message to the service user. |
