<p>A laser system employing regenerative amplification, which generates a highly stable train of short laser pulses (11) even at repetition rates well above the inverse fluorescence lifetime of the gain medium. Said laser system includes a low power master oscillator (5), pulse picker (7), low power pre-amplifier (14) and continuously pumped regenerative amplifier (9). The pre-amplifier (14) is incorporated into said laser system to boost energy of initial pulses (8) and generate seed pulses (13) with energies exceeding the stability threshold of said regenerative amplifier (9). The use of the low power master oscillator and the low power pre-amplifier is a cost-effective solution of the bistability problem in cw pumped RAs at high repetition rates.</p> |
