PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize commonness of a vehicle control device to plural sorts of vehicles with simple constitution. SOLUTION: In a microcomputer 13 in an engine ECU 10, programs for controlling plural models of vehicles are incorporated, and each program includes a special part for each vehicle model. When it is installed onto the vehicle, the microcomputer 13 takes code information related to the vehicle model from the vehicle, and the code information is stored in an EEPROM 14. In starting an engine after completion of the vehicle, the microcomputer 13 determines the vehicle model based on the code information stored in the EEPROM 14, and the special part of the program matching the determined vehicle model is selectively executed. |
