PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information system for informing a user of a consumable such as a customer replaceable unit(CRU) using printed matter for a xerographic system. SOLUTION: The information system includes a xerographer and a customer replaceable unit having a storage device, with the storage device having data about the customer replaceable unit. The customer replaceable unit electronically communicates with the xerographer, which creates human readable documents including information for placing an order for the customer replaceable unit when the unit is in a certain state.
