PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating composition for coating a can having no resin manufactured by using bisphenol A or a raw material containing bisphenol A and excellent in manufacturing stability and storage stability of coating and retort whitening property and corrosion resistance of coating and a coated can by coating the coating composition.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous coating composition for coating a can containing a core-shell type acryl resin particle consisting of a shell part manufactured by emulsion polymerization of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer using a nonionic surfactant and a crosslinked core part and a resol type phenol resin (C1) and/or an amino resin (C2).SELECTED DRAWING: None
