PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chemically sensitive field-effect transistor using a one-transistor pixel array.SOLUTION: To reduce the pixel size to the smallest dimensions and realize the simplest form of operation, ancillary transistors are eliminated to form an ion sensitive field-effect transistor ISFET 100 using one transistor. Increase of programmable gain is allowed through a cascoded transistor available during readout.
