PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission device that can reduce saturation of the gain and achieve high output.SOLUTION: In a light emission device 100, an optical waveguide 160 has a first area 161 containing a center position C having the same distance to a first light emission face 170 and a second light emission face 172, a second area 162 containing the first light emission face 170, and a third area 163 containing the second light emission face 172. The second clad layer has plural non-contact areas 18 which are not electrically connected to a second electrode. When viewed in the lamination direction of an active layer 106 and the first clad layer, the plural non-contact areas 18 intersect to the optical waveguide 160, and when viewed in the lamination direction, the rate of the overlap area of the plural non-contact areas 18 and the first area 161 to the area of the first area 161 is larger than the rate of the overlap area of the plural non-contact areas 18 and the second area 162 to the area of the second area 162, and also larger than the rate of the overlap area of the plural non-contact areas 18 and the third area 163 to the area of the third area 163.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
