PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system of a vehicle capable of reliably avoiding collision with a forward obstacle without giving a driver a strange feeling.SOLUTION: A control system of a vehicle includes a forward sensor (4) that detects a distance from an own vehicle (1) to a forward obstacle and a relative speed of the own vehicle with respect to the forward obstacle, and a control unit (24) that acquires a steering avoidable distance, which is the shortest distance to the forward obstacle at which collision with the forward obstacle can be avoided merely by steering the own vehicle, and a braking avoidable distance, which is the shortest distance to the forward obstacle at which collision with the forward obstacle can be avoided merely by braking the own vehicle, on the basis of the relative speed of the own vehicle with respect to the forward obstacle, and that, when the distance between the braking avoidable distance and steering avoidable distance falls below a predetermined value and the distance from the own vehicle to the forward obstacle is equal to or smaller than the steering avoidable distance or braking avoidable distance, if a driver's steering intension is not detected, restricts steering of the own vehicle using a steering actuator (18) and decelerates the own vehicle using a brake (28).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
