The present invention provides a channel detection method for an LTE system working in an unlicensed frequency band, a channel detection system for an LTE system working in an unlicensed frequency band, a base station, and a terminal. The method comprises: continuously performing channel detection according to a frame structure-based fixed cycle; when a data service arrives, setting load-based extra channel detection time; and determining whether to transmit the data service according to a first detection result acquired by performing channel detection according to the fixed cycle and/or a second detection result acquired by performing channel detection according to the extra channel detection time. By means of the technical scheme of the present invention, channel detection is simultaneously performed by means an LBT mechanism in which channel detection is performed according to a frame structure-based fixed cycle and a load-based LBT mechanism in which channel detection is performed when a data service arrives, the channel occupation rate can be further increased, and the time delay can be reduced.
