This press forming method is a method for press forming a formed component comprising: a top sheet portion having a convex peripheral edge portion, part of the peripheral edge of which projects outward; and a side wall portion formed by bending along the convex peripheral edge portion of the top sheet portion. The press forming method includes: a pad pressing process in which a portion of a location corresponding to the top sheet portion in a blank is pressed using a pad; a first forming process which forms the side wall portion; and a second forming process which forms the top sheet portion such that it is flat. In the pad pressing process, pad pressing is performed separated by a distance, from the R tangent end of the convex peripheral edge portion of the top sheet portion, of at least 10 times and at most 100 times the sheet thickness of the blank prior to processing. In the second forming process, forming is performed in locations in the top sheet portion that were not pad-pressed in the first forming process. |
