The disc brake for motor vehicles has callipers with clamping and fixed pads. The calliper is able to pivot about an axis parallel to the disc plane. The brake pads are worn uniformly over their whole surface which is pressed always entirely against the brake disc. The normal to the brake disc surface passes through the friction force centre. This normal is situated away from the tilting axes. Tilting stop faces are provided on pad support jaws to contact the calliper walls when the brake pads have worn to their extent. This arrangement ensures uniform braking contact at all wearing stages of the pads.
