PURPOSE:To enable the two-stage measurement of a cotton-like material and to improve the accuracy of measurement by measuring roughly the coarse cotten- like material, which is fed continuously from a constant speed feeder, by large feeding then measuring the same precisely by small feeding by operating a belt feeder in the two stages; high speed and low speed. CONSTITUTION:When the inside of a measuring machine 6 is first empty, a door 5 for a storage hopper is held open and a door 16 for the measuring machine is held closed. A belt feeder 3 is kept operated at a high speed to act so that the crushed cotton-like material Xa contg. partly the part of a high layer thickness is supplied at a high speed (large feeding). The large feeding is continued until the machine 6 measures 90%, and when the machine 6 measures 90%, a partial measuring switch detecting the same operates and the feeder 3 is changed over from the high speed to low speed operation by the signal thereof, whereafter the material Xa of a low layer thickness laminated on the belt 31 during the high speed operation of the feeder 3 is supplied at a low speed (small feeding) and is measured precisely. |
