The invention relates to a multiple sheet monitoring device for sheet-processing machines having a conveying roller 9 which is rotatably arranged beneath a sheet (10) to be conveyed and having a scanning element which is arranged above the conveying roller 9. The distance between the scanning element and the conveying roller corresponds to the thickness of the sheet 10 to be conveyed. The scanning element can be moved away from the conveying roller 9 against the resistance of a spring. The scanning element is arranged on a lever which can be pivoted about a pivot axis 4 which is parallel to the axis of rotation of the conveying roller and the lever 5 can be used to exert a load on a switching element 24 of a fixedly arranged switch (23) in accordance with the pivoting position of the lever 5.
